PAWPRINT founder David Flack has spent his entire life surrounded by a variety of animals, from the common to the truly exotic. He has a diverse academic background that includes studies in zoology and environmental anthropology.

A self-described "science geek," David has been a member of the American Association of Zoo Keepers, and the National Association of Science Teachers. He's written many articles on pet care and is an experienced animal show judge. In addition, David is a former docent at Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo.

David strongly believes all pets deserve the best possible care. Appropriate diets and quality supplies are essential to achieving this and led David to establish PAWPRINT and to run a successful online store for over 10 years.

David has spent much of the last ten years researching and writing about the needs of exotic pets. The results of his on-going effort can be found in Critter Central, our evergrowing library of care articles.

A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, David spent seven years in Los Angeles before moving to Seattle. Living in the Pacific Nortwest -- surrounded by mountains, temperate rain forests, and other endless examples of natural wonder -- is a perfect fit for his interests in bicycling, snow shoeing, and most other outdoor activities.

David insists animals and outdoor activites are more than enough to keep him busy, but he still finds time to pursue his life long interest in world music, which he expresses through his passion for hand drumming -- especially Brazilian percussion and traditional west African rhythms.

Through his animal education programs in local libraries, schools, and the community, David became involved in working with troubled teenagers. As such, he is now a licensed chemical dependency counselor.

The Pawprint kritters you see in the pictures of the Photo Album are still an active part of David's life. In fact, just staying on top of Coco's (coatimundi) repeated escape attempts seems to be a full-time job!
